Shisho ("we", "our", "the app") is a Japanese-learning app. This policy explains what data the app collects, why, and how you can control it.
| Data | Why | Linked to you? |
|---|---|---|
| Email address | Sign-in (Apple/Google) & saving your progress | Yes |
| Name | Sign-in (Apple/Google) & personalizing the app | Yes |
| User ID | Identifying your account and progress | Yes |
| Device identifier & app usage | Analytics — understanding feature usage, crash-free basics | No |
| Practice text you type or speak | Sent to our AI backend to generate a lesson/conversation reply | No |
We don't show ads, use advertising identifiers (IDFA), or track you across other companies' apps or websites. We don't sell your data.
Sign-in is handled by Apple (Sign in with Apple) and Google (Google Sign-In). Account data and progress are stored via Firebase (Google). Analytics are collected via Firebase Analytics. AI-generated guides and conversation replies are produced by a Cloudflare Worker that forwards your practice text to DeepSeek to generate a response — DeepSeek does not receive your identity, email, or account information.
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from Profile → Settings → Delete Account. This permanently removes your progress, streaks, and saved data from our systems.
Shisho is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
